Somalia’s Jubbaland state has confirmed first two cases of Coronavirus in Kismayu barely hours after health ministry reported more 30 new cases in capital and northern part of the country.
Speaking to Jubbaland owned media, Mohamed Warsame Darwish, the chairperson of the region’s Coronavirus Response Committee said the patients were quarantined at Kismayu hospital after they tested positive.
The chairperson has explained how the region tested the samples of the patients as Jubbaland state has no COVID19 testing machines.
Thought cases in Kismayu were not confirmed by Somali Ministry, yet it shows how fast the virus is flexing its muscles in the country.
Health ministry has so far recorded two death of COVID19 including a regional Minister who died in Mogadishu two days ago after transferred from Jowhar town where he had been illing for two weeks.
Somali government imposed a 12-hour curfew, shut down schools, universities and suspended local and international flight compliance with the measures has been uneven and yet the virus is manifesting itself in different ways.
