Two suspects have been arraigned in court on Wednesday afternoon over charges of attempts to join al-Shabaab in Somalia.
The two who were identified as Idris Opwora Wesonga and Joseph Juma Odhiambo were arrested by Somali security who later handed them over Kenyan forces before were taken to Mandera town.
According to the prosecution, the men allegedly committed the crimes between October and November.
They were also charged with crossing into Somalia at an undesignated location and failed to report their exit to Somalia at any immigration office in Kenya.
Police records state that the two left Mumias for Mandera in October and rented a house where they stayed for a week before crossing into Somalia.
The case will be mentioned on January 10, 2020 for a ruling on their release on bond.
