Somalia’s New Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Mohamed Abdulrazak officially took the oath of office on Wednesday.
Mr. Abdulrazack was sworn at the parliament during a ceremony witnessed by the Speaker of the House of the People Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman and first Deputy Abduweli Sheikh Ibrahim Muday.
The New Minister thanked the country’s leadership for the trust while pledging to serve his new role diligently.
“It is indeed an immense honor to have been sworn in as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia. I thank H.E the President and PM for entrusting me with this huge responsibility. I will serve diligently and to the best of my abilities.”
He was appointed by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble last week to replace ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad who served in the position since 2018.
The changes were linked to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the situation in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, calling for dialogue to end the deadly violence.
