The officials of Somalia and Turkey discussed ways to boost already strong bilateral ties between their two nations.
Somalia’s ambassador to Turkey Jama Mohamed and Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director-General for Africa, Nur Sagman held talks in Anakara.
The meeting between the two senior diplomats also briefed about the recent political and security development in the horn of the African nation ahead of the upcoming significant parliamentary and presidential elections.
“I had a follow-up meeting with HE ambassador Nur Sagman Direct General of Africa Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Somalia and Turkey has a deep and brotherly strategic relationship.” Ambassador Jama said.
The meeting between the two also follows days after defense officials from Turkey arrived in Mogadishu as part of a routine visit to boost the defense pact between Ankara and Mogadishu.
Turkey provides significant support to Somalia in various areas mainly in security and humanitarian aspect since the first visit of President Erdogan then Prime Minister in August 2011.
Ankara established USD 50 million military facilities in Mogadishu to train and equip Somali armed forces to boost law and order in the country.
