Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire held talks with state leaders from Hirshabelle, Jubbaland, and Southwest in Dhusamareb shortly after his arrival on Tuesday evening.
President Saed Abdullahi Deni of Puntland left for Garowe before the arrival of Prime Minister Hassan Khaire to plan for the burial ceremony of former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Abshir Farah who passed away in Ankara, Turkey on Sunday.
The talks between the federal and regional leaders which was away from the media limelight focused on the outcome of the earlier meetings by the state leaders on contentious national issues including elections and security.
The federal Member States ruled out the possibility of holding one man one vote in the country as proposed by the election commission late last month.
In a communique issued last week, the leaders called for a suitable inclusive electoral model to be conducted on a stipulated timetable without term extension saying election delay will jeopardize security and economic gains.
The leaders also appealed for close coordination between the leadership of the regional states and the federal government in the areas of politics, security, and economy.
