One police officer was killed and three others wounded including a revenue officer following a hand grenade attack in Beledweyne in the Hiran region of Hirshabelle state.
According to Beledweyne police commander, sergeant Muse Salad Wehliye, the assailants hurled the grenade on the officers manning customs checkpoint in Horseed neighborhoods along Beledweyn El Jale road on Friday night.
“One officer lost his life and three others including tax collection officers were wounded during the attack, no one was arrested in connection with the attack.” Sergeant Wehliye confirmed.
No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack but al – Shabaab frequently carries out attacks targeting members of the security agencies in the area.
