The Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has repeated the call by his government commitment to conduct free and fair polls in the upcoming Presidential and parliamentary elections.
Speaking during an e-address to the United Nations Security Council on Monday Mr. Roble briefed the council on the recent developments made towards the achievement of the democratic process in the horn of the African nation.
“We reiterate that the Federal Government of Somalia is committed to holding fair, free, and timely elections.”
The Prime Minister also assured the realization of the 30 percent women quota representation to address the concerns of the gender community.
“I addressed the UN Security Council members and I briefed on significant recent developments. I reiterated my Government’s commitment to holding fair, free & timely election where the 30% of women quota should be safeguarded and a mechanism to ensure women’s participation is developed.”
Somali Premier also requested the technical support of the international partners in the realization of the significant democratic exercise.
