Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has laid the foundation stone for Dhusamareb airport in Galmudug state.
The construction of the facility will commence within one week.
Senior regional officials including the President of the state Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoroqor his cabinet and members of parliament attended the launching ceremony.
Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony on Tuesday afternoon the premier called upon the business community in the region to invest in the public property sector.
“It was a great pleasure for me this afternoon to lay the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Dhusamareeb Airport in Galmudug Regional Capital, as part of the FGS contribution to the development of the State. I encourage Galmudug business people to invest in the Region.”
President Qoroqor thanked the federal government leadership led by Prime Minister Roble for their commitment to the enhancement of the development sector.
