Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre has applauded the communities living in the ancient Indian Ocean city of Marka for implementing a reconciliation agreement.
The Federal government presided over the process earlier this year to put an end to atrocities between two warring tribal militias in the port city.
Speaking during his visit in the city on Saturday, Hassan Kheyre thanked the residents for upholding unity and maintaining peace and security since the agreement was reached.
The premier further urged the locals to closely work with various security agencies and double their close relations in ensuring security.
He pledged to provide funding from the federal government to upgrade local sports stadium to boost sports.
Accompanied by Southwest state leader, Abdiasis Lafta Gareen, the Prime Minister concluded his week-long visit in the state and returned to the capital on Saturday evening.
Kheyre who appreciated the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation called upon local administration in the ancient city to present list of pressing issues for the community in return for possible consideration of development project.
