Somali forces killed unspecified number of al-Shabaab fighters in a covert operation near al-Shabaab stronghold town
Speaking to the media, Jubaland’s State Minister for Information, Abdi Hussein Sheikh said SNA and regional forces in cooperation with allied forces conducted the operation.
According to the minister, the attack happened early Friday near Buale town of Middle Jubba region.
The minister said the objective of the operation had been achieved but he did not specify what was the objective.
Sheikh stated that no civilians were harmed during the operation.
Buale has been under the control of since the group inception back in 2006.
Al-Shabaab which once controlled large swarth territories including the capital city has now lost majority of the major towns in central and south Somalia.
The group carries out attacks on SNA and AMISOM bases as well as IED attacks in the major town.
