The Secretary-General of Somali Doctors Union has tested positive for Corona-virus.
Dr. Ibrahim Guled who is the head of pediatric unit at Rajjap Tayyip Erdogan in Mogadishu has confirmed the news via his social media account on Saturday.
He said he was confirmed positive following examination in a tweet posted online before going into self-quarantine after showing some COVID 19 symptoms.
Dr. Guled pleaded with the citizens in the country to take the presence of the virus seriously by staying at home for prevention measures.
“The spread of Corona-virus is real, please stay at home and follow the instructions by health authorities, wash your hands regularly and exercise social distance.” He posted.
He recently accused the government of Somalia for not prioritizing the health sector which he said was very significant for the wellbeing of the country but instead putting extra efforts on defense department.
The number of COVID 19 records in Somalia stands at 21 with one fatality according to the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
