At least seven Somali military officials were killed and two went missing following an attack on their convoy in central Somalia, Galmudug authorities confirmed.
In a statement, Galmudug Information Ministry said unknown gunmen ambushed the military convoy near the town of Guri-El.
The attack happened late Wednesday, according to the statement.
The army personnel were returning from a training workshop in Guri-El town.
Galmudug Information minister, Ahmed Shire Faragle has confirmed that the military reinforcements and officials from local authorities were dispatched to the scene.
No group has yet claimed the responsibility for attack.
