Security forces in Ethiopia’s Somali regional State seize illegal firearms

Somali Regional State Information Bureau (SRSIB) announced on Tuesday that the region’s special force had seized illegal firearms.

Forces in Somali regional State of Ethiopia have confiscated cache of weapons on Ethiopia’s border with Somalia.

According to Somali Regional State Information Bureau (SRSIB), following tips off by the public, the forces seized 39 weapons at Megalo Qeren checkpoint near to Jijiga city.

The illegal arms were smuggled via Togowuchale border checkpoint in the eastern part of the country.

The region’s security authorities detained three suspects in connection with the illegal handguns. However, their identities are unknown.

Borkena media based in Ethiopia reported that the vehicle allegedly used to transported weapons was also confiscated.
