The Puntland State of Somalia has Wednesday received humanitarian and medical supplies from the United Arab Emirates.
A cargo plane with the supplies landed at Bosaso International Airport for delivery.
They include essential medical supplies vital to responding to coronaviruses such as face mask, protective equipment, and other kits.
Puntland regional leader, Saed Abdullahi Deni who called for the international help to curb the pandemic thanked the Emiratis for the response.
President Deni said the medical supplies will support his administration in its efforts to combat COVID-19.
“Today a cargo aircraft with medical equipment landed at Bosaso Inter Airport from the United Arab Emirates. Medical supplies will support the Puntland Somalia in its efforts to combat COVID-19. Thank you to the #UAE for the humanitarian support provided to Puntland.” Deni said in a tweet.
Somalia’s Ministry of Health has on Wednesday recorded the first death related to COVID-19 in Mogadishu.
A 58-Year-old with no travel history succumbed to the pandemic in an emergency health facility set up for the coronavirus patients.
Health officials said they are tracking all people who made contacts for a test.
