Prominent Somali Doctor passes on in Mogadishu

Dr. Hawa Abdi Dhiblawe, a renowned human rights activist, medical doctor and philanthropist has passed away on Wednesday in Mogadishu.

She passed away while undergoing treatment in an unnamed medical facility.

Born in Mogadishu in 1947 Dr. Hawa who was a medical doctor by professional dedicated her entire life to the service of the poor and needy in various capacity including as a lecturer at Somali National University as well as offering free medical care at own teaching and referral clinic established outside the capital, Mogadishu.

Tributes have been paid since the confirmation of the death by the family of the late philanthropist.

Former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire describes the late doctor as a patriot who stood up for the poor during the difficult times.

“I send my condolences to the entire Somali people mainly the family of late Dr. Hawa Abdi for the sudden death. He will never forget her critical role during the difficult moment in the country. We pray to almighty to rest her soul in Janah Ferdows.” Former premier Khaire tweeted.
