President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Thursday night signed into law the 2020/21 Budget including elections budget as the country plans to hold its parliamentary and presidential elections this year.
The total FGS budget for fiscal year 2021 is over $670 million.
According to the the finance ministry, the budget is divided into three parts, Internal Revenue 260.1 million and Budget Supplement which is 170.9 million, while projects are 240.8 million.
The budget has increased a 46% increase in the government’s budget for this year to 671.8 million.
The federal government last year was $476 million.
The budget continues to follow an upward trend for the past four years.
The 2020 budget had increased a whopping 158% from 2017 when the annual budget was $260 million.
