Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has called on the leaders of the country’s regional states to convene in Dhusamareeb town for consultative forum.
In a statement, Villa Somalia said the meeting which will kick off first of next month will focus on political crisis in the country.
According to the statement, the leaders will also discuss 17th September agreement on the electoral process.
“As part of our efforts on the Sept. 17 elections agreement, I will have a 3 days consultative forum with FMS Leadership in Samareeb (Dhusamareeb) from 1st to 3rd Feb 2021,” the president said.
The president said the outcome of the conference will be taken to the parliament.
“15th Feb, I will address the two Houses of Federal Parliament on our national progress especially on Federal elections,” Villa Somalia said.
The remarks of the president comes barely hours after meeting with envoys of International community in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, president Farmajo assured the envoys of his Government’s commitment to uphold the electoral agreement signed on 17 September 2020 as ratified by the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
“The President termed the progresses made in the polls preparation as a sign of his administration’s willingness to fulfill free, fair and transparent elections. This included the FGS-FMS agreement, approval of elections law, formation of Independent polls body and budget approval,” said Villa Somalia in a statement.
