Government should take Jubbaland militias out Mandera county, Mandera governor told Kenya government.
Ibrahiim Ali Roba expressed concern over the security of his county saying Jubaland security forces are still holed up in the county.
He noted that the militias are still creating insecurity in the entire county.
Roba confimed there were gunshots along the border believed to be from forces allied to Janan.
“The public has reported two lorries carrying Janan troops heading to Mandera along B9/A13 Road,” he stated on his Twitter account.
Since last January, when the forces loyal to Abdirashid Hassan Nur Janan hold up in Mandera hundreds of residents fled their fearing clashes between the militias and Somali military on the other side of the border.
Early last month, Janan militias attacked Somali military prompting heavy clashes which lasted for hours.
The military managed to drive away the militias.
The fighting caused civilians and displacement in both Mandera and Beled-Hawa towns.
