The leader of Jubbaland’s regional state of Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has called for the immediate end to the political stalemate between his administration and the federal government of Somalia.
Speaking during his inauguration ceremony on Saturday, Ahmed Islam stressed the is a need for compromise on both sides for the interest of the people and the nation in general.
The regional leader extended an invitation to President Farmajo in Kismayo as soon as tomorrow (Sunday) to sort out the difference once and for all.
He pledges to reach out to opposition candidates to foster peace and reconciliation while spearheading towards mending relations with the federal government.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by two former Somali presidents, Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, members of the federal parliament and leaders of opposition as well.
A delegation from Kenya led by the majority leader, Aden Barre Duale also graced the occasion and left before the end of the event just hours after Somali civil aviation authority directed all flights from Nairobi to route via the capital, Mogadishu.
