Medics in Hiran region provided free health care for internally displaced persons in El Jale outskirts of the agricultural city of Beledweyn.
Led by, Mohamed Omar Mudale, 50 families mainly children and women benefited from the free medical camp provided for residents displaced by the recent flooding in the area.
The health workers also created awareness on the dangers and spread of Coronavirus in the community and ways to curb of the pandemic.
“As you know flooding results in water born disease such as malaria and Diarrhea therefore we provide free medical health care at our own cost.” Dr. Mohamed said.
The doctors urged support from the health authorities to reach more people in need of the health provisions
“We are appealing to the both regional federal health authorities to help us in the free service provision.” Mohamed Omar, the director of Hiran regional hospital appealed.
Hundreds of families displaced by the river Shabelle flooding in Beledweyn and other surrounding villages are in danger of contracting disediseasesh as malaria due to lack of mosquito nets and other basic medical supplies.
