The Federal government technical committee recently appointed by the Ministry of Interior on Galmudug elections have arrived in the administrative capital, Dhusamareb on Wednesday.
The 13 members were welcomed by regional officials upon arrival at local airport.
They are scheduled to meet various groups in the state including elders, business community as well as representatives from youth and women groups.
The committee will spearhead in the selection of regional parliament members which is expected to kick off in the next forthcoming weeks ahead of the long awaited regional leadership elections.
Their arrival comes a day after Galmudug cheif of cabinet, Sheikh Mohamed Shakir named similar technical committee, while turning down the list of Federal Interior Ministry.
A reconciliation conference in the state on September resolved that communities in the area to work towards peaceful, free and fair elections.
In another positive sign, local forces allied to Ahlu Suna religious movement were integrated into the Somali national armed forces following training.
The agreement between the government and the group also led to the deployment of federal security agencies in Galmudug state.
More than five candidates have already declared their interest in the upcoming regional elections slated before end of the year.
