Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has appreciated his Turkish counterpart, Rajab Tayyip Erdogan for the medical aid to curb the spread of COVID 19 in the country.
The two leaders held a phone conversation on Sunday to discuss how the two states can further cooperate on the global health pandemic.
” I had a phone call with Turkish President, Rajap Tayyip Erdogan where I thanked the brotherly support and the provision of urgent medical supplies.” President Farmajo said, adding ” The donation will play a key role in the prevention and spread of coronavirus in the country.”
Ankara which delivered much-needed ventilators and other kits last week has pledged to provide another consignment of ICU beds to Mogadishu on Tuesday.
The diplomatic relations between the two countries have been strongly growing since the first visit of Turkish PM now President, Rajab Tayyip Erdogan in August 2011.
Turkey trains Somali armed forces in one of the largest and best-equipped military academy in Mogadishu.
