Somalia and Egypt have agreed to enhanced their bilateral relations following a meeting between the foreign ministers from the two countries.
In a statement, Egyptian foreign ministry said the two officials discussed means of promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields,
The meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohamed Abdirizak took place on Monday in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt.
“The talks tackled the exerted efforts for developing the cooperation between the two sides in a way that reflects the strong mutual relations,” said Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson of the Egyptian foreign ministry.
Hafez stated Egyptian government pledged to support Somalia in the efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Horn of Africa nation.
The Egyptian government called on Somalia’s political stakeholders to resolve their political differences at the negotiating table.
“Egypt pays full attention to achieving peace and stability in Somalia, and called on all the Somali sides to continue the dialogue for paving the road to run free and integrated elections,” Hafez said.
