Djibouti exempts tax on civil servants and businesses over COVID 19

The government of Djibouti has exempted tax and revenue collections from businesses and members of civil servants over the economic impact resulted from a coronavirus in the tiny nation.

The minister for Labor, Osman Ibrahim Roble announces the exemptions on businesses and workers for a period of three months following a meeting chaired by the president, Ismael Omar Guelleh.

During this period the government has prohibited the companies from firing the employees.

Djibouti has seen a rapid spike in coronavirus cases with the Horn of Africa nation now recording the highest prevalence on the continent as the population largely ignores measures imposed by authorities.

The strategic horn of the African nation has recorded over 1000 infections with two deaths and 686 recoveries.

The pandemic has led to the lockdown of one of the biggest US military bases in the small nation last week over COVID 19 fears.
