The African Union has called upon the Federal Government of Somalia and the Republic of Kenya to resolve their tension along the border via dialogue.
Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat appealed to all stakeholders from both countries to exercise calm and utmost restraint.
A press statement from the chairperson of the Commission said Mr. Faki is following with utmost concern regarding the recent ongoing developments between Mogadishu and Nairobi.
Adding that he encourages the two countries to resolve their differences through conversations.
The Addis Ababa based organization also said it will continue monitoring the developments in collaboration with Regional Economic Communities.
It reiterated the readiness of the African Union to support the two countries engage in constructive dialogue to promote peace, stability and good neighborliness, in line with the relevant AU instruments and principles.
The African union intervention comes following accusations from Kenya last week that blamed Somali troops for infringing in its territorial borders after clashes between militants led by embattled Jubbaland state security minister, Abdi Rashid Janan and Somali paramilitary forces along the border.
The Somali government has equally blamed the neighboring state for interfering in its domestic affairs.
The leaders of the two states have since held talks via phone conversation and discussed ways to cooperate on the security and bilateral ties along the border.
