Arab league envoy in Somalia dies in Mogadishu

Arab League Ambassador to Somalia Dr. Hamud Al-Huweydi has today died in Somalia’s Capital Mogadishu after short illness.

According to reliable, Al-Huweydi who has been serving Arab League in Somalia for the last three years passed in one Mogadishu hospital where he was taken for treatment.

It is not yet clear what caused the death of Al-Huweydi.

Al-Huweydi was appointed in June 2017 to serve as ambassador to Somalia to head Arab League Mission in Somalia.

Al-Huweydi was born in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia in 1383/1963.

He completed his degree In Law from the University of King Saud.

He also possesses several certificates on Diplomacy, Constitutional Governance and Conflict Resolutions.

The Arab League has its headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. Somalia joined the organization in 1974 during the reign of late president Said Bare.
