At least three non-local teachers have been killed and several others were wounded following pre-dawn attack by al-Shabaab on Garissa town.
According to North Eastern Regional Police Commander Paul Soi, the attack took place on Monday in Kamuthe area, Garissa County.
Soi said the militants were targetted a communication mast and a police camp in the area before proceeding to attack the teachers.
The official stated that all the victims are teachers.
Al-Shabaab attacks increased
Al-Shabaab fighters have recently stepped up attacks in Kenya causing deaths of many people including soldiers and civilians.
Monday’s attack comes barely two days after al-Shabaab destroyed communication mast in Mandera County.
Mandera has borne the brunt of Al-Shabaab militants due to its proximity to Somalia where the militants carry out attacks before escaping back.
A number of security personnel have died as a result of the attacks, some of which included improvised explosive devices placed on roadsides by Al-Shabaab militants.
