A humanitarian delegation from Somaliland arrived in Mogadishu

A humanitarian delegation from Somaliland arrived in Mogadishu on Saturday.

They are in a mission to deliver financial assistance to citizens affected by the recent flooding in the city of BeledWeyne.

The team was welcomed by the senior Federal Government officials including Minister for Information, Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye and the minster for constitution affairs Salah Jama.

“Today we welcomed a humanitarian delegation from Hargeisa, there are here to deliver assistance to their brethren affected by flooding in Beledweyne and other parts of the country.”

According to Hargeisa based media, the committee has collected more than USD 600,000 for the victims of flooding in Southern Somalia.

More than 300,000 people have been affected by the natural disaster caused by Deyr raining season across the country.

Somaliland administration declared to play its part in humanitarian assistance to help affected victims in Beledweyne in November.

The two rivers namely Shabelle and Jubba burst their banks and caused flooding displacing hundreds of people while destroying the harvest.
