Somalia’s Jubbaland state has welcomed the plans to hold consultative forum in Dhusamareeb town.
Following meeting with International community on Saturday, Somali president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo announced three-day-consultative conference slated for early next month.
The president called on the regional leaders to participate in the forum which will focus on electoral process and concerns of the opposition parties.
Jubbaland information minister, Abdi Hussein Sheikh told BBC Somali that his state will participate the forum saying it would be another opportunity to resolve the differences.
“Good step, we welcome it, the meeting would have been held long time ago but we it is not yet late to resolve dispute over electoral process,” he said.
Puntland and Jubbaland states have been at loggerheads with the federal government over the troops deployed in Gedo region.
Late week, Jubbaland state announced its members of State Indirect Electoral Implementation Team (SIEIT) week after pressure by international community.
The state along with Puntland state called on the federal government to convene the regional states to discuss over electoral process.
