The UN envoy in Somalia James Swan held an introductory e-meeting with new Hirshabelle leader Ali Guudlaawe Hussein.
The discussions covered reconciliation, security sector, and other state priorities including upcoming national elections hence women’s key role in the electoral process.
“I spoke to the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General James Swan and his Deputy After Congratulations and welcome We discussed key points like security reconciliation and the implementation of the forthcoming Federal Elections in which Hirshabelle will play a key role.” President Gudlawe said.
UNSOM congratulated the new regional leadership and his deputy that was elected on 11th November during elections in the regional administrative capital of Jowhar.
Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Gudlawe) received 86 votes, while his only rival for the top job Abdirahman Jimale Osman received 13 votes.
Yusuf Dabaged, who has served as the governor of the Hiraan region several times and also served as a minister in the Hirshabelle administration, received the majority of votes in the Hirshabelle administration’s vice-presidential contest.
