Former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khayre has broken the silence for the first time since he was removed from office as he declared his bid for Somalia’s presidency.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, Kheire cleared the air by confirming that he would run for the presidency in the next year election.
“It is clear that our country has made a progress over the last 2 decades. I have served this country as a prime minister and have gained experience, so I am here to announce that in the next presidential election, I will run for the presidency,” Hassan Ali Khayre said.
Hassan Ali Khayre, a Somali-Norwegian, 52 has been serving as the prime minister since 2017, but was removed from office by the parliament more than a month ago.
The Ex-PM who is also Soma and Oil boss was among the leaders a deal on the country’s election model in August in Dhusamareeb town of central Somalia.
