Somali government has decided to initiate an ‘Education Adult Programmed’ for the first time since outbreak of the civil war.
Addressing dozens of students in Mogadishu, Abdullahi Goddah Barre, Somali education minister said three-year programme will be introduced in the country to give chance to adults.
“We have introduced new curriculum which is being implemented in the country. We have also come up with plans restart adult education programme,” he said.
The minister pledged that the ministry will increase quality of the education saying they put more efforts in expanding system with the help of international community.
During the non-formal education programme, the students will cover academic content up contents through crash courses.
According to the minister, after completing the course, the students will get an admission in secondary schools and universities.
Despite not mentioning exact date of the launch, the minister said it will begin soon.
Somalia is struggling to revive its education system which collapsed after the fall of the country’s central government led by Siyad Barre.
