A three-story residential building has collapsed in Mogadishu’s Hamar Wayne district following heavy downpour on Monday night.
A rescue team from Benadir regional authorities said they rescued at least 17 people with six injuries.
They were admitted to various hospitals in the capital for treatment.
The mayor of Mogadishu Omar Mohamed Mohamud alias Filish together with senior administrations visited the scene during the rescue mission.
The governor of Banadir urged residents of the capital to exercise caution during this wet season.
The downfall of the old building in Mogadishu comes a day after the federal government through the national emergency center predicted the occurrence of strong monsoon winds along the Indian ocean from the south towards the northern part of the country.
Weathermen warned citizens living the coastal cities of Marka, Barawe, and Kismayo to take necessary measures to avoid damage.
