The Somali government has dispatched medical supplies to Barawe, the capital of the Southwest state of Somalia.
The equipment includes laboratory testing kits for corona-virus and other equipment to help detect and prevent the virus.
It was delivered to regional officials by the COVID-19 task force committee in response to reported suspected cases in the area last week.
Similar prevention materials were also delivered to regional state headquarters such as Kismayo and Jowhar on Sunday under the direction of the office of the prime minister which is coordinating the COVID 19 emergency response committee.
The Ministry for health and social services has recorded 51 new cases on Sunday putting the number of positive cases in the country to 722 with the death of 32.
Members of the public have been urged to implement health authority’ guidelines including social distancing and face mask and staying at home.
