Authorities of Turkish Airlines on Monday announced that they suspended the plane’s flights from Istanbul to Somalia in a bid to avert Coronavirus.
In a statement, Turkish embassy in Mogadishu said the suspension will be lasting for two weeks
“As part of the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak, the Somalia government reported that all international flights, including humanitarian flights, have been stopped for 15 days, starting Wednesday, March 18,” said the statement.
It added that Turkish Airlines “will suspend Mogadishu flights over the next 15 days, and the last scheduled flight to Istanbul will be held on the morning of March 17.”
The announcement came barely hours after the Horn of Africa nation confirmed the first of Coronavirus.
On the other hand, Somalia has declared it will suspend all international flights from Wednesday.
According to Somali ministry for aviation, the suspension will lapse after two weeks.
