Somaliland confirms eight new COVID 19 cases

Health officials in Somaliland have Monday confirmed eight new cases related to coronavirus.

They are five males and three females respectively between the age range of 20 to 60 years old.

All the cases were reported in Hargeisa, the capital of the self-declared state.

Meanwhile two patients have fully recovered in the new updates by the health officials bringing the overall recovery from the first case to 23.

The death toll in Somaliland over COVID 19 is 17 so far with 225 positive cases.

The state shares border with Ethiopia and Djibouti which are among most affected countries in the region.

In a bid to curb the spread of the pandemic the borders were closed and transport both air and land suspended with also the closure of learning institutions across.

Hargeisa received medical supplies to deal with the virus from various partners including UAE and Qatar via the federal government of Somalia.
