Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has today lined up the long-awaited 75-member Council of Ministers just days before the ten days given by the parliament expired.
In a statement, PM Hamza announced the cabinet included Al-Shabab’s former deputy leader Mukhtar Robow Ali Abu Mansoor who has been under house arrest for the past few years.
Robow was appointed as the Minister for Religious Affairs. PM Hamza will be deputized by Salah Ahmed Jama.
“I am honoured to release the list of Somalia’s new Cabinet which I will lead to delivering on our enabling national priorities. The Cabinet is tasked with delivering key policy priorities to make our country secure, progressive & prosperous for our citizens,” the PM said in a statement.
The cabinet consists of 26 cabinet ministers, 24 state ministers and 25 deputies. Among the listed members of the cabinet are female members including three ministers, four state ministers and three deputy ministers.
