Somali Cabinet has approved twelve draft bills submitted by different ministries following a meeting in Mogadishu.
The meeting which took place on Thursday was chaired by prime minister Hassan Ali Kheire.
Amongs bills approved are the Federal Police Act, Immigration Law, Immigration Establishment Act, Copyright Law and the National Education Policy.
Other laws approved in the weekly cabinet meeting include the Somali Film Agency Establishment Act, seeds Law, Plant protection and quarantine law, national fertilizer policy, national pesticides policy, Somali agricultural regulatory inspection act and agro-chemical act.
In a statement, the office of PM Kheire said the approval of the bills are part of the government’s efforts to ensure that services delivery and government activities are based on well-defined policies and laws.
The approval comes a day after President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed ‘Farmajo’ signed into law the Statistics Bill.
The signing of the bills was welcomed by the country’s Planning minister, Gamal Mohamed Hassan described the confirmation of the bill by the president as a milestone and thanked all who contributed to its realisation.
In a twitter post, Gamal said the Bill aims to create the National Bureau of Statistics which will streamline the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of statistical information, and the coordination of national statistical activities across the country.
