Somali Police force has apprehended a suspect after he planted a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device on a car in the Mogadishu KM5 area on Saturday.
The members of the public reportedly saw the man detonate the car with a remote control before alerting the security agencies for action.
Two occupants of the car were wounded following the explosion that was resulted by the device.
According to sources, the car belonged to a government official attached to Aden Abdulle International Airport.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court for charges.
Vehicle-Borne improvised explosive attacks by the armed group al-Shabaab have significantly reduced in the city for the past months following increased security operations and tight checkpoints at main roads in the city.
