Somalia’s telecommunication giant Hormuud telecom has announced the contribution of USD two million on Sunday as part of corporate social responsibility.
According to the company, the funding will support Somali government efforts in containing the prevention of COVID 19 in the country.
Hormuud foundation also said part of the donation will also go to help the poor and needy families in the community for Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan.
“As the number of Covid-19 cases growing in #Somalia, Hormuud Foundation has donated $2 million to support the national efforts to contain the virus and to help the poor through Hormuud Foundation Iftar program.”
Last week the telecom giant provided an extra $1.5m to support Somalia healthcare sector to fight Coronavirus.
According to the ministry of health the funds will be used in upgrading key public hospitals to respond to the COVID 19 disease.
