Somali government has appointed a seven-member committee to technically work on the upcoming reconciliation conference between the Southwest state administration and the political opposition members in Baidoa town.
In a statement, the Lower House Parliament Speaker, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor Madobe who appointed the committee has tasked the body to expedite the process to hold the talks.
He urged the sides to end the political standoff, saying the state should prepare itself for operations against al-Shabaab fighters.
The development comes barely two days after Southwest President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen and political opposition leaders agreed to hold talks to end their difference. The talks are slated for the 5th of January.
Late last month, at least ten people were killed and over 20 others wounded after forces of the opposition clashed with Southwest state security forces.
The opposition accused the administration of attacking the residential houses and attempting to suppress the opposition.
