The leaders of Somalia and Kenya, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Uhuru Kenya respectively have agreed to reintroduce direct flight between Mogadishu and Nairobi.
Following a lengthy meeting in Nairobi, the presidents held a press conference in which they said the two countries agreed to lift the Wajir stop over for flights from Mogadishu.
“We have agreed within a week, the necessary authorities will put in place that which is necessary to ensure we now have direct flights from Mogadishu to Nairobi,” Kenyatta said.
Uhuru also told the reporters that the two countries agreed Somali nationals will be obtaining visas at the airport upon arrival.
“We have agreed to bring normality to our relations. We must do everything we can to ensure our people live happily and peacefully. With immediate effect, Somalis traveling will be able to obtain their visas when they arrive,” he said.
The leader did not specify whether the visas will be given to those with ordinary passports or those with a service passport.
