At least fourteen ISIS and Al-shabaab members have been arrested in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa and other parts of the country.
According to a statement from the National Intelligence and Security Service, the group were accused of planning terrorist attacks in Ethiopia.
The terrorist groups tried to exploit the security situation in the country as reported by Ethiopian Broadcasting Corp.
Previously, Ethiopian security had arrested number of militants following tips off from the public.
Ethiopia has hundreds of troops in Somalia who support Somali government defeat al-shabaab fighters.
The troops who are working under the framework of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) are stationed in central and southern Somalia.
The group carries out suicide bombings and other attacks in the Horn of Africa country despite being the target of frequent U.S. drone strikes, and the Somali government retains a weak grip on power.
Al-shabaab currently controls remote villages in southern after it had lost much territories to Somali military backed AMISOM forces who were deployed in the country in 2007.
