Prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has pledged to lead the country towards free and fair elections ahead of parliamentary and presidential elections.
Somalia is expected to hold parliamentary elections from December as articulated by the deal between the federal government and its member states.
In a video posted on twitter handle, Roble said his government is committed to inclusive elections.
“We are committed to make sure the process of the elections is fair and free,” he said.
In a communique, Somali leaders have last Thursday issued electoral calendar as they to adopted the clan-based system of delegate voting in the elections.
Members of Parliament in the Lower House will be elected through delegates nominated by clan elders in conjunction with the electoral body.
Voting for the MPs will take place from December 10 to 27, preceded by the election of members of the Upper House, the Senate, which will be held from December 1 to 10.
The presidential election will take place on February 8, 2021.
