The President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo held a preliminary meeting with federal member state leaders in Dhusamareb on Sunday evening.
The meeting was attended by the host leader Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qorqor of Galmudug, the President of Southwest state Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta Garen, the President of Hirshabelle Mohamed Abdi Ware and the governor of Banadir region Omar Mohamed Mohamud Filish.
The meeting discussed the latest development regarding the upcoming elections, the state of the economy, and the security jointly condemned al Shabaab Mogadishu hotel attack which killed 16 people and wounded scores others.
The head of state praised the state leaders for their commitment to continue the talks in Dhusamareb to decide on the touchy national issue.
The leaders from Puntland and Jubbaland are expected to join the forum today to discuss the contentious agenda surrounding the election model to be agreed upon before February next year where Presidential elections are expected to be conducted in the country.
