Ten people were killed in a grisly road accident in Mogadishu on Monday night.
The accident which happened during evening rush hour occurred when a truck lost control and hit several rickshaws at Howlwadag junction.
Several structures including a nearby petrol station were also damaged in the accident.
According to Hawlwadag district commissioner, Mustaf Ali confirmed the fatalities and injuries of several other people including pedestrians.
The injured were admitted to various hospitals across the capital in Mogadishu.
He said the lorry was driven by a turn boy who failed to control the device before it rammed into the traffic jam.
The relative peace and stability in the Somali capital in past years resulted in an increase in the traffic in Somalia’s biggest city amid challenges of poor roads.
Authorities pledge to improve the quality of roads that have been affected by heavy rains in the city.
