A Somali Police Officer and budding actor, Osman Salad Dahir, also known as “Atoora Badda” or Beach Actor, was killed on Thursday in the Taleh neighbourhood of Mogadishu.
Osman was allegedly killed while distributing Iftar meals in Taleh to the less fortunate as he did on most Ramadan evenings.
Police have arrested his friend, Shueyb Leeleefow, in connection with the murder. It is alleged that Leeleefow shot his friend at close range three times after Osman Salad Dahir refused to let him steal the charity funds.
His death was very shocking, felt by the youth of Mogadishu, who used to be an entertainer and an activist who encouraged people to help each other.
Before joining the Somali police, he was known for holding entertainment programmes for young people on Lido beach, which were very popular.
