SNA kills four al-Shabaab fighters in Gedo region

At least four al-Shabaab fighters have been killed and several others wounded following clashes with the Somali national army (SNA) in southern Somalia.

According to a statement, the Somali military said its forces launched an operation in the Shantole area between Dolow and Luuq towns.

During the operation, the military engaged Al-Shabaab fighters, prompting half an hour of fighting.

The military reportedly destroyed Al-Shabaab bases and recovered weapons and ammunition.

Al-Shabaab has not commented on the latest SNA operations against the group’s military base.

In recent months, Somali forces have intensified operations to liberate al-Shabaab-controlled areas.
