Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has sent his condolences to the family, friends and to all the Somali people on the passing on of Prominent and leading Islamic Scholar Sheikh Abdinasir Haaji Ahmed who was killed in an explosion fitted to his car today in Kismayo town, Jubbaland State.
President Farmajo described the slain Sheikh as a person who devoted in his entire life to propagate the spread of Islam and has been a critical pillar in guiding people to the right faith.
“I wish to convey my condolences to friends, family and the entire Somali people on the death of Prominent Sheikh Abdinasir Haaji Ahmed who was a critical pillar in the propagation of Islam and guiding people to the right path and faith.” said President Farmajo.
The President said that the terrorist attack against the Sheikh bears the hallmark that the group is on a mission to counter the spread of the religion and prayed to Allah to grant him jabatul firdows.
The renowned and leading Islamic Scholar who hailed from Las-anod based was one of the Ex-key figures of Al-Ittihad al-Islami.
He was killed in an explosion attached to his car on Tuesday in Kismayo town where he has been for the last few days for the spread of the religion.
No group has claimed responsibility for the killing but Al-Shabaab militant group often take credit for such killings and attacks that happen in the soils of Somalia and has been waging war against the UN backed Somali central government to topple it and impose its own strict interpretation of the Islamic Sharia.
