Kenya confirms first coronavirus case

Kenya government has confirmed its first coronavirus case, the nation second country to declare the outbreak of the virus.

The East Africa nation’s health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe has said the country has confirmed the first case of coronavirus from a patient who arrived in Kenya.

The patient was a Kenyan citizen who returned to Kenya from the US via London UK on March 5.

Kagwe said that the patient is said to be stable and the temperature has gone down and will not be released until she tests negative.

The CS has urged Kenyans to remain calm since the government has put in place enough measures to prevent the virus from spreading.

“The government has taken preventative measures and is monitoring the patient… who is stable,” said health Kagwe. “What we have is a corona virus positive test. There is no cause for alarm, continue with regular activities.”

He said people should continue with their daily activities across the country with precautions.
